Since 1985, Emmy award-winning costume designer Randall Christensen has created and manufactured high-end glamour costumes for television, film, Las Vegas projects, cruise line shows, and the competitive dance world. Christensen is the owner of Randall Designs, which is the leading company in the dance industry for dance related apparel. In addition to winning an Emmy in 2006, he has been the sole designer for ABC’s hit television show Dancing with the Stars since season two, worked as the sole costume designer for the TLC network series Ballroom Bootcamp, and has contributed gowns for Jennifer Lopez in Shall We Dance and Mary Steenbergen in Charm School, and designed for the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance, and for the films “Take the Lead” and “Dance with Me.”
Christensen has also contributed gowns and costumes to the United States Professional Champions & Finalists, the United States Professional Team Match Blackpool Dance Festival, Brigham Young University; Ballroom Dance Department, Brigham Young University; Ballroom Dance Company’s Tour Team, the World Showdance Finalists, and the World Professional Latin Finalists.
Now, for the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars, Christensen will be dressing celebrities Belinda Carlisle [Lead singer of the Go-Go’s], David Alan Grier [Actor], Jewel [three time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter], Shawn Johnson [Olympic gold medalist, gymnast], Lil’ Kim [Grammy award winning rapper, singer, and actress], Gilles Marini [actor and model], Ty Murray [seven time all around Rodeo World Champion], Steve-O [star of MTV’s Jackass and Wildboyz], Nancy O’Dell [journalist and actress], Denise Richards [model, actress, and reality TV star], Lawrence Taylor [football Hall of Famer], Chuck Wicks [singer/songwriter], and Steve Wozniak [philanthropist and contributing Apple products creator, author].
In addition to Dancing with the Stars, Christensen completed designing an entire show for Princess Cruises’ newest ship, The Ruby Princess. With nearly 900 staterooms with private balconies, The Ruby Princess sailed it’s inaugural cruise the week of November 10, 2008. Their new show, “Broadway Ballroom” was designed completely by Christensen, showcasing over a hundred astounding costumes.
Christensen has become an icon in his industry. He takes his costumes from the dance floor, to the television screen, and to the high seas seamlessly, and it appears there is nothing this man can’t do.
